CombiTel, a leading Australian IPTV systems integrator announced today that TransACT commenced commercial deployment of Australia's first hybrid IPTV Service using a turnkey IPTV solution integrated by CombiTel.
The solution was selected by TransACT following a competitive tender process involving several industry leaders. It includes CombiTel set-top box software that has been developed specifically for TransACT and best-of-breed IPTV system components from CombiTel vendor partners. The initial roll-out, started in early 2010, delivers broadcast TV, Video On-Demand, TimeShift, Digital Video Recording and other advanced interactive services to TransACT subscribers in Canberra, with further expansion planned into other regions.
