CombiTel, a leading Australian IPTV systems integrator announced today that TransACT commenced commercial deployment of Australia's first hybrid IPTV Service using a turnkey IPTV solution integrated by CombiTel.
The solution was selected by TransACT following a competitive tender process involving several industry leaders. It includes CombiTel set-top box software that has been developed specifically for TransACT and best-of-breed IPTV system components from CombiTel vendor partners. The initial roll-out, started in early 2010, delivers broadcast TV, Video On-Demand, TimeShift, Digital Video Recording and other advanced interactive services to TransACT subscribers in Canberra, with further expansion planned into other regions.
TransACT Chief Executive Officer Ivan Slavich said, "This roll-out is very significant for TransACT as it arms us with the next generation of IPTV technology, enabling advanced features for our video customer's today, with more features to come in the near future.
